DARLINGTON- Leland "Dusty" Wardlaw Beckham, age 91, died Sunday morning, March 7, 2010 at the McLeod Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday March 10, 2010, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Born November 3, 1918 in Lancaster County, he is the son of the late Samuel Caskey Beckham and the late Ada L. Robinson Beckham. He served his country in the United States Army in the Artillery Division in World War II and had retired from American Can after 44 years of service. Dusty enjoyed golfing, fishing and cookouts with all of his buddies.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Terry) Beckham of Lexington, KY, Leland (Janet) Beckham Jr. of Campbellsville,KY, a daughter, Brenda B. (John) Poythress of Stanley, NC, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Miller Beckham, his son, Ronald Eugene Beckham and great-grandchildren Brittany and Haley Beckham.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
